TheBoatApp Mobile v3 is Released!

Ahoy fellow Sailors,

I always like to start our newsletter on a sailing-note and then dive a bit deeper to the technology part. Having said so, we are experiencing changes all around us. I don’t refer to the US elections monopolising lately the news, but rather to the sailing seasons getting longer, as a result of a warmer climate (…it is November and swimming is still fine in the Mediterranean sea!). For sticking as promised to the positive-note, this provides to all us sailors much more quality time on water and playing around with our beloved yachts, friends & family included.

On the technology aspect, our Mobile App just got better. We made quite some revamp of both the Android and iOS mobile apps and here are the highlights of the mobile v3 recently released:

  • User-Interface (UI): we have introduced a new header plus a new menu design, with tabs to easily access each module.
  • Notifications: no more just emails of what needs to be done. You may now receive your alerts and other notifications within the mobile app (in-app notifications) and also via push-notifications (system notifications provided even when the app is closed). Furthermore, you may setup on which channel (email, in-app, push) you prefer to receive which notifications, keeping you in control.
  • Files: for dealing centrally with your files and documents you had to switch to the web. Not any more since you may now do so via the Files module in the mobile app. Manage folders, upload files or simply use your camera to do so (camera-snapshots).
  • Costs-tracking: the costs timeline, that you know from the web, has been added in mobile. You may now see the cost-history of a given inventory item or a task from the palm of your hand.
  • Waypoints-map: the mobile map displays the trip’s waypoints and you may now easily switch from the map view to the log-records view in a jiff using the respective tabs

A tonne of work has also been done on other updates and fixes. You may always see what is released in the public Changelog and much more you may propose what YOU need, by posting it in our Community, where other users may also comment and upvote it.

Closing, I wish you well, with as many miles as you wish under your keel, good health and safe cruising, with an always seaworthy boat!

Best Marine Regards,

George
