Offline Boating App: Trips, Logs & Crew Data Management

Offline Boating App: Trips, Logs & Crew Data Management

Ahoy fellow sailors,

Every good voyage starts with a well-kept ship's log and gear that never lets you down - and that's exactly the horizon we've been sailing towards these past few months. Whether you're at the helm of a browser on your chart table or navigating from your phone mid-passage, TheBoatApp now keeps your entire fleet's data secure, synced, and shipshape - connectivity or not. Let's drop anchor and walk through what's new.

Web-offline, GPX export, and more!

Marina Wi-Fi has sunk many good record-keeping habits - not anymore. You can now create and edit trips fully offline, on your laptop's web-browser, even on interrupted internet connectivity: log the details as you go, and everything syncs the moment the connectivity comes back, no waiting, no headaches, no lost entries. Another key-feature, asked by many, just went live, so may now retrieve your logs in GPX format, ready to be used by many GPX-compatible apps (...GPX-import is coming up soon!).

Highlights on deck:

  • Offline trips, start to finish – begin, end, or delete a trip without a whisper of signal, and watch it sync seamlessly once you're back in range.
  • Trip statistics at a glance – every trip now surfaces its own duration, distance, and total logs, so you always know exactly how far you've sailed.
  • GPX export – pull your logs straight into GPX format for use with your favourite chart-plotting tools.
  • Offline logs, redesigned – add and edit logs fully offline, attach costs and files directly to a log, delete in bulk, and print with a rebuilt, much-improved view.
  • A trip page rebuilt from the keel up – a sharper route map, corrected Windy overlay, and the ability to set your own cover image.
  • Logs screen, shipshape – filter, sort, and customise your table columns so you see exactly what matters to your voyage.
  • Background exports – large exports now run quietly behind the scenes, with a notification and email the moment your file is ready to hoist aboard.

Smoother sailing under the hood – cleaner notification lists, properly loading boat gallery images, and a fixed boat-deletion confirmation.

Mobile App - Inventory-Task Link, Offline Checklists, etc

We've spent this stretch making sure no dead zone, patchy signal, or rough sea can ever come between you and your data:

  • Inventory linked to tasks – tie a spare part straight to the job that needs it, with the connection visible from either side, and files that autosave the moment you add them.
  • Full operation logs – automatic activity history for your major assets, smarter trip scheduling with overlap detection, and sharper error handling that flags issues instantly.
  • Checklists, fully offline and redesigned – create, edit, search, filter, and sort checklists with zero connectivity; copy, duplicate, or follow any checklist in one tap; attach files and track costs directly within.
  • Inventory redesigned and offline-first – changes sync reliably without signal, with new location and sub-location management, plus ~40% faster performance on Android.
  • Tasks and costs offline – add, edit, and delete either without a connection, with a redesigned offline search and filter, and an auto-selected boat for single-boat owners.

Faster capture on the go – attach files straight from camera or gallery, log costs with a quick-entry form and history timeline, and enjoy seamless native authentication sync.

Why This Matters to You and Your Boat

Think of your boat's data like your ship's log book of old — it only earns its keep if it's always within reach, come fair weather or foul. With trips, tasks, costs, checklists, and inventory now working reliably offline across both web and mobile, you're no longer at the mercy of patchy marina Wi‑Fi or open-water dead zones. Every entry, every attachment, every log finds its way home and syncs the moment you're back in range — your data secure, centralised, and ready whenever you need to chart your next course.

A tonne of work is actively being done on other features, updates and fixes. You may always see what is released in the public Changelog and much more you may propose what YOU need, by posting it in our Community, where other users may also comment and upvote it.

Closing, I wish you well, with as many miles as you wish under your keel, good health and safe cruising, with an always seaworthy boat!

Best Marine Regards,

George & TheBoatApp Crew
