Custom Fields - Add any attribute you wish to document and track

TheBoatApp provides you with the ability to use Custom Fields to add any attribute you wish to document and track in a data-record (e.g. Inventory). Each added custom field can be configured as:
Alphanumeric
Number
Date
Pick-list: where you may setup pre-selected values
Custom-fields may be configured to cover your very own unique needs and are available in various modules and data-entry-forms, including the trip-logs, operations-logs, inventory, tasks and checklists.
How to Access the Custom Fields
Access the respective module where you want to add a custom-fields, click the three-dots menu button on the right-side and select the “Custom Fields” option.
How to Register & Manage Custom Fields
Add a Custom-field: after accessing the custom-fields (see above), click the “+ Add field” button and go ahead to fulfil the name you want to use for this custom-field as well as select the format to be used:
Alphanumeric
Number
Date
Pick-list: for setting up pre-defined values
After doing so, click the “Create field” button to confirm and create your new custom-field.
- Edit a Custom Field
- To edit a custom field click the pencil icon on the right-side
- Type the new name and click the “Update field” button. Please keep in mind that the custom-field type (format) cannot be changed
- Delete a Custom Field
- To delete a custom-field click the trash-bin icon on its right side
- A warning will pop-up: “Do you want to delete this custom-field? Doing so will delete it from all records where it may have been used. The respective records will remain but any data entered within this custom-field will be irrevocably removed from each record”. Confirm this will delete the selected custom-field and all data booked within it.
How to Use the Custom-fields
After adding a custom-field in a module, this can be used by either adding a new record or viewing/editing an existing one for the respective module. In either case, scroll down to the “Custom fields” section and simply fill-in the needed data for this custom-field.
