Firstly, you need to access the Inventory module. Log in to TheBoatApp and select "Inventory" from the left side menu.
Select "Inventory" from the left side menu and then click "+Add Item". You are now on the Inventory registration screen that appears on the right. Start filling up the data of the Inventory item you are adding:
Then, scroll down and select the Maintenance section:
Current usage: the current usage (hours, litres, etc) of your inventory item. E.g. if your engine has 1,000 hours or your water-maker has 1,000 litres of usage, book this here. This usage-value can be booked either on this screen or in the Logbook by registering an Operations-log record. Booking it via the Logbook synchronises it with the linked inventory-item while registering a value change here creates a new Operations-log record in the Logbook to maintain proper record-keeping
Usage threshold: setup the usage value (e.g. hours, litres) at which the maintenance has to be performed (i.e. when the “Current usage value” reaches the “Usage threshold”)
Reminder: setup how many units (e.g. hours, litres) before the Usage threshold you should be notified. An additional pre-alert will be created for this threshold
Usage recurrence: setup every how many units (e.g. hours, litres) this maintenance should be performed
Reminder: setup how many units before the Usage threshold you should be additionally notified. An additional pre-alert will be created for this threshold
OR/AND: when both the usage and calendar (see below) concurrences are setup, you may select whether just one (OR) or both (AND) of these two criteria will need to be fulfilled to trigger an alert
Calendar recurrence: setup every how many days/weeks/months/years this maintenance should be performed
Reminder: setup how many days/weeks/months/years before the due date you should be additionally notified. An additional pre-alert will be created for this date-time
Due Date: setup the date on which the maintenance has to be performed. An alert will be created for this date-time
Reminder: setup how many days/weeks/months/years before the due date/usage you should be notified. An additional pre-alert will be created for this date-time
Maintenance done: this is the button to click after you have performed the maintenance. This creates a Maintenance-done Operations log record for this inventory item and shifts the threshold(s) to the next occurrence as follows:
New Due-date = Due-date + Calendar recurrence
New Usage-threshold = Usage-threshold + Usage recurrence
In short, you are strongly advised to include as much info as you can, including maintenance dates, values and reminders, uploading any files related to the specific inventory item such as photo(s), manual(s), even video(s) about the proper/improper operation, maintenance (e.g. a filter replacement), etc. Also, please pay special attention to the dates fields. Putting the right info can assist you enormously by sending an Alert to you and your designated contacts before it might be too late! It might look a bit of extra work for you now but it will come handy for both you and your appointed contacts (e.g. family, skipper, technician, marina-staff, etc) to have access to this needed spare part product/serial numbers, especially on a hard-evidenced photo, when you'll need it! In short, know in advance, in full, and plan accordingly!
On the main Inventory screen, on the Inventory list-view table, hover the mouse cursor on an Inventory name. “Details” appears on its right side and by selecting it you access the edit Inventory screen. Scroll down, select the Maintenance section where you may edit and change any of the Maintenance properties.
